A Valued Volunteer

Sue Martin has been part of Mustard Seed since its inception in September 2011.  She is passionate that children achieve their potential and recognises the battle that parents of autistic children face in having their needs and rights recognised.  She was inspired to support Mustard Seed’s work in supporting autistic children and their parents.

Her career background was as a nurse, then a midwife for a number of years. She then moved to the RAE to work in occupational health, when she met her husband Simon.  Sue was at home until her children began school, then she worked as a Special Needs Assistant to a little boy with complex health problems.  Later she worked part-time in her church office. Her children are now grown-up and Sue is thrilled to be expecting her first grandchild in July.

Sue plays many roles in ensuring Mustard Seed runs smoothly. She organises the DBS checks for all those involved in the charity’s work, is part of the team who run our monthly Siblings’ Group and also helps with some of the specific skills groups for our autistic children. Sue enjoys all aspects of her work with Mustard Seed but particularly loves the chance to chat and work with the Siblings Group as they join in a variety of activities.
