RT. HON. MICHAEL GOVE MP VISITS MUSTARD SEED AUTISM TRUST
30 November 2018
The Member of Parliament for Surrey Heath the Rt. Hon. Michael Gove MP came to visit Mustard Seed Autism Trust at Frimhurst Family House where he was given a tour and met with founder and specialist teacher Sarah Clements; Trustee, Mary Prior; Family Support Workers Stacy Reilly and Vicki Williams.
They shared with the Minister about their roles and the services they provide to the local community and how they work with the whole family.
They also discussed their new funding campaign ‘Friends of Mustard Seed’ which is hoped to bring in more regular donations.
“Today I spent some time with Sarah and her fantastic team at Mustard Seed where I saw first-hand the services they are providing for families in Surrey Heath who have children diagnosed with autism. I also met families who use Mustard Seed as a place to get advice and support.
They provide services like “Families First” which supports families in the home with social, communication, emotional, and behaviour issues through practical support, modelling, training and advice. In addition, they provide occupational therapy and anxiety management groups, and the “Ready Steady Go” group supporting communication with children and their parents.
Surrey Heath like many constituencies around the UK have families that need the support of Mustard Seed – referrals have been so high this year they have had to close their waiting list. As a charity they depend on grants and donations and they hope their new campaign ‘Friends of Mustard Seed’ will help bring in the regular income they need to continue to do such good work for our community.”
