We accept children aged between 3 and 11 who live within Hart and Rushmoor, including the borders of Surrey, up to a 10 mile radius of Farnborough.  We take referrals directly from parents only.

Families have an initial assessment, with either our Charity Coordinator or Senior Occupational Therapist.  This assessment allows parents to discuss the needs of their family and enables Mustard Seed to consider the ways in which we can work together and support the family, through a program of intervention.

Each child has an individual plan, which may involve one-to-one or small group work, focusing on social, communication, emotional, sensory and motor difficulties.

These are delivered through a range of different therapies and activities;

  • Occupational Therapy for Sensory Processing Difficulties

  • Occupational Therapy for Motor Skills

  • Therapeutic Listening

  • One to one sessions

  • Ready Steady Go Group: 6 week course implementing the Attention Autism Approach with a small group of children and their parents

  • Chill Out Zone:  6 week course teaching practical strategies to help manage anxiety with a small group

  • Friendship Zone: 6 week course looking at social skills with a small group

  • Girl Power Group

  • Lego Therapy Group

  • Play Therapy

  • Living Skills (Coming soon...)

We also recognise the need for joined up working with other professionals involved with the families and offer support to schools and local organisations.

Mustard Seed's ethos is to empower parents and give them the tools and confidence to support and manage their children's needs.  Parents are involved in every step of the process, from developing the plan, to participating in sessions and attending workshops.

Our 6 week Empowering Parents course is often the first service our families access.  Our Senior Occupational Therapist and Specialist Teacher provide up-to-date information and practical strategies, with the focus on developing a deeper understanding of autism.  Sessions cover an introduction to autism, communication, social understanding, supporting anxiety, sensory motor and sensory processing difficulties.

We also run workshops on specific topics related to autism for parents.

"A really excellent course which has given me so much insight into how children with ASD see the world and ways to regulate his emotions and processing.  I would thoroughly recommend this course - brilliant presenters.  I feel more empowered to help my son."
